The Mystic Triangles
Another mode of interpreting the Tree of Life is through the 3 Triangles.  This triple trinity affords us yet another means of isolating cycles within the grand cycle, allowing us to appreciate and interpret another layer of the glyph of Creation.
Triangles.JPG (24725 bytes) The top most triangle is referred as the Supernal or Celestial Triangle and represents the cycle of divine consciousness, expressing the fundamental cycle of creation: thought or inspiration (Kether), emotion or activation (Chokmah), and feeling or initiation (Binah)

The middle triangle is the Ethical or Moral Triangle.  With this trinity, we are asked to progress from compassion and mercy (Chesed), to severity and sharp discernment (Geburah), finally finding balance in the harmony of the two (Tiphareth)

The lower most triangle is the Astral or Magical Triangle and it is here that much of the "magic" work of our consciousness is done.  Here the ecstatic joy of indulgent emotion (Netzach) is tempered by knowledge and intellect (Hod), resolving into the treasure trove of potential and dreams (Yesod).

These three cycles have two key elements in common:

1) Each is separated by a veil.   Though not shown in the diagrams, the veil between the Supernal and Ethical Triangles is the Great Abyss, the transitional threshold between cosmic consciousness above and illuminated awareness below.  The veil between the Ethical and Magical Triangles is called the Veil of Paroketh and marks the transition of non-material force into material form.

2) Each Triangle is balanced at its apex, reinforcing once again the nature of the middle path as expressed in the Pillars text.   The resolution of earthly and spiritual issues is not found in the extremes of their expression, but in the harmony point between the two.
