the Wyrm
There are many levels to this piece, a real cross section
of symbolism and metaphor. Four draconic forms separated
by boundaries of tarnished scales are poised around
a golden human face.
This piece could also be called "Alchemy",
a mystical blending of elements into a sovereign compound.
The gold of the alchemist's lore was not the gold of
wealth and riches, but the purest alloy of the human
spirit. Through their craft, alchemists identified the
"verbs" of human existence: distillation,
sublimation, separation, fermentation... a complete
spectrum of human experience rendered down to a chemical
metaphor.
Purity isn't enough. We are vessels
containing an infinitely diverse range of elements.
It is in the harmony and balance of our entire composition
- not just the easy parts - that we achieve a "golden"
experience.
