During a weekend of cross-country skiing, a trail led
us through a stand of Aspen trees. Wrapped in the stark
mantle of winter, the pale trunks seemed to extend into
the forest forever, like holding two mirrors in front
of each other and watching the reflections echo into
infinity.
It was a moment of dual vision for me...
observing the general texture of white vertical shapes
crowded in the scene while noticing the sharp distinction
between each unique tree. A subtle shift of perception
was all it took to move from one vision to the other,
without moving an inch from where I stood.
I think life is like that, too.
