I always feel a general impetous during a hike to "keep
moving", to get to the destination. Carrying a
camera with me has hushed that voice in my head, but
not silenced it. Still, there are places on nearly every
trail at almost require a moment's pause. This piece
is from a photo of one of those places.
The Chasm Lake Trail starts with a lot
of "up" at the beginning (now that I about
it, the whole darned trail was "up"). Occassionally,
there are switch backs as you ascend a steep portion
of the trail. At this particular point, a stream was
pacing the trail that had briefly (and mercifully) leveled
off. The break in the incline created a natural pool
that was shaded by the trees and growth that had sprung
up around itand was wreathed and crowned in a splendid
profusion of blue and indigo flowers.
With the morning sun slanting in and
on the rise, the place offered a welcome moment of rest...
and a little shutter bugging.
