| Ouzel Falls
This piece is actually mis-named. The falls pictured
here are named Copland Falls, but the image was captured
during a hike up the Ouzel Falls trail. These falls
are the first of several that will be encountered on
this fairly gentle trail.
The falling waters of the mountains
are another of those views that are nearly impossible
to do justice in a captured image... the perpetual flow
and surge of the water, the cool breeze that surrounds
the place, and sound that's somewhere between a hiss
, a roar, and a whisper simply can't be stored chemically
or digitally. No matter how effective the photographer
or the medium, you MUST go there to embrace the full
experience.
One thing my Dad and I have learned
during our hikes in the Rockies... take your pictures
on the way up the trail. It's amazing how 8 miles of
mountain trail can turn what would normally be a beautiful
shot into just another obstacle to getting back to the
car and sitting down. So we take most of our shots on
the way to our destination.
